LA APPASSIONATA (f, 2, Bernardini–Moonlight Sonata, by Carson City), off at 9-2 in this career bow, was forwardly placed in a four-horse tussle for leadership duties from the bell. The Stonestreet homebred, a full-sister to GII Indiana Derby winner Wilburn, found herself perched well off the rail in third through the early going. She made her bid for command on the far turn to make it three in a line and shrugged off all challengers after a half in :46.26 to win going away by five lengths. Twirl Girl (Twirling Candy) closed from the chasing pack to take place honors. The final time for the six furlongs over the fast track was 1:10.45. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0.
